August 12th - 15th 2010 - a fun-filled four-day festival for all ages, set in one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of Ireland. The backdrop to the festival is traditional Irish music and there are gigs and sessions ongoing each day from morning until late at night. Rock, pop, folk and jazz are just some of the genres represented to ensure all tastes are looked after!

The Connemara Pony is a distinctive breed with excellent qualities: strong, intelligent and very hard working, perfect for the wild unforgiving landscape of Connemara, the Galway region that gave them their name. Their genial disposition makes them excellent pets while their powerful build makes them good jumpers and great show ponies.
This year’s Festival of the Connemara Pony kicks off at the Showground, Clifden, County Galway and is a week-long celebration of this much-loved creature.

August 19th 2010 - part of the Festival of the Connemara Pony. The highlight of the week is the Connemara Pony Show on Thursday 19th August, this is a world famous event attracting visitors from all over the world. With a history dating back to 1924, there are over 400 ponies on show. It is the largest display of Connemara Ponies anywhere in the world.

August 21st 2010 - Gaelforce West is the largest one day adventure race of its kind in the world. It is in its fifth year year in 2010 with last year seeing 2500 competitors taking part. This year the event is open to 3000 competitors. The race is a multi-sport adventure race involving cycling, running, hiking and kayaking.

August 28th & 29th 2010 - The activities taking place on Saturday are entirely devoted to the International Connemara Performance Championships. The show on Sunday includes Connemara Pony Performance Championships, competions to include ponies, donkeys, sheep, cattle, dogs, cats, as well as domestic arts, flowers and horticulture. Also Irish music and dancing.

September 16th-26th 2010 - Clifden Community Arts Week is celebrating its 33rd anniversary in 2010, and is a great celebration of the Arts which includes poetry reading by Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney, lectures, recitals, traditional music with Scullion, a concert with Finghin Collins on piano and Christian Benda on cello, comedy with Colin Murphy, all enjoyed in a wonderful relaxed atmosphere in one of the most beautiful places on the West Coast.
